Shell & Tube HX

Shell & Tube heat exchangers, although a mature technology in the world of heat exchangers, are still the most widely accepted and supplied type of heat exchanger in the Process industries. In addition, they make up a majority of the existing installed base of heat exchangers. There is a multitude of reasons for this including their strength, and durability and the ability to handle high pressures and temperatures.

Shell & tubes are simple by nature, but the design process is complex. It’s important to understand the many different factors that go into making sure that you as the customer, get the proper design to work best in your application. ProThermal’s experienced team can and will provide you with the right piece of equipment for your process.

ProThermal Inc. does design, sizing and pricing of standard material-carbon steel and stainless-steel grades-shell & tube heat exchangers in-house. We work with fabrication partners to manufacture our standard designs. Our fabrication partners are ASME code shops that work to the most rigorous QC standards.

Higher alloy and other corrosion resistant material requests, while still potentially designed by ProThermal Inc., are fabricated by our partners at APEX Engineered Products. APEX has 20+ years of experience and has specialized in exotic, high-end materials since their inception.

Custom Shell & Tube Heat Exchanger Options

QCCM is an ASME code fabrication shop that specializes in building pressure vessels and boiler room equipment , holding the U and S Certificates of Authorization.

QCCM partners with ProThermal in the design and fabrication of shell and tube heat exchangers primarily constructed of Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel materials.

They also have an R stamp and can provide repair/rebuild services on ASME code stamped equipment.

In addition to their fabrication capabilities, QCCM has expertise in boiler installation and retubing of existing boilers. They can bring older installations up to date with current code requirements. They are also intimately familiar with boiler room operations and can help evaluate the entire operation with an eye to meeting upgraded/current operating standards

A particular expertise and specialty is the design, fabrication and installation of accumulators.

In addition, QCCM has expertise in design and supply of recuperators to help boiler rooms operate more energy efficiently.

QCCM can assist in the development of weld procedures and certification of customer’s personnel in performance of onsite services. They can provide inspection services including Certified Welding inspectors and third party inspections and audits.

They provide on site mechanical contracting services and have the ability to perform repair and rehabilitation of existing process units.
